What is Letters and Sounds?
Letters and Sounds is a phonics resource published by the Department for Education and Skills in 2007. It aims to build children's speaking and listening skills in their own right as well as to prepare children for learning to read by developing their phonic knowledge and skills.
We believe that Letters and Sounds is a fun and effective way to teach phonics in our school.

We hosted an author visit in February. Hartlepool Libraries in partnership with Authors Aloud and Egmont Publishing invited author and illustrator Jim Smith who was promoting the latest in his Barry Loser series of books 'Barry Loser and the Birthday Billions'. Our Year 3 & 4 children attended and we also invited along pupils from Rossmere and Grange School. One pupil described the session as very funny with lots of creative drawings and they thought he was the best author and his books are amazing! They also thought Jim was very nice and kind. Thank you for visiting us Jim!
